Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Web Online is a fan-made browser version of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai, the 2002 PlayStation 2 game that started the Budokai series. The developer isn't named; the page credits "PS2 Web Recomp". It runs on WebAssembly and WebGPU, with a WebGL 2 fallback, and TheGamer reports the full game at 60 FPS, including Story Mode, Duel Mode, World Match, Practice and the Legend of Mr. Satan.
How to play
- Open the page and press Play Game for a solo game, or Online for 1v1 duels.
- Keyboard: W or Space confirms, X cancels, the arrow keys move and Enter starts. For a gamepad, connect it, click inside the game and press any button.
- Online, use Quick Match, host a public or private match, or join with a room code. Duels run peer to peer over WebRTC, with a global chat and a match chat.
What you need
- A desktop browser with WebGPU or WebGL 2; TheGamer names Chrome and Firefox.
- A keyboard or a gamepad. DualShock and Xbox layouts are supported.
- Nothing to install: the game data streams in as you play.
- On phones, on-screen touch buttons are available, but the page says the game is made for PC and may run slowly or warm up a phone.
Good to know
- Progress is saved to a virtual memory card in the browser. You can export it as a
.ps2file and use save states with F1 and F3. - An option loads a save with the story sagas completed and all characters, capsules and tournaments unlocked.
- Settings include a 30 or 60 FPS frame rate, resolution and aspect ratio.
