isle.pizza runs LEGO Island, the 1997 Windows adventure from Mindscape, in a browser tab. The isledecomp community built it on a decompilation of the original code, begun in 2023 by YouTuber MattKC, and compiled the portable version to WebAssembly with Emscripten. The full game plays without any files from you, and the site adds widescreen and high resolutions, touch and gamepad input, an offline install and optional multiplayer.
How to play
- Open the site and choose Run Game. The data streams in as you play: roughly 25 MB on first load, more with extras enabled.
- Open Configure first for another language or version (including English 1.0 and 1.1), aspect ratio, resolution, or extras such as HD textures, HD music and widescreen backgrounds.
- Move with the arrow keys, or WASD if you enable it, and click with the mouse. On touch screens choose a virtual gamepad, virtual arrow keys or a virtual mouse.
- Progress saves automatically. To lock it in, return to the Infocenter and leave through the exit door; closing the tab only attempts a save.
- If the game is silent, click the mute icon on the animated intro, because browsers block audio until you interact.
What you need
- A current browser with WebAssembly multi-threading: Chrome or Edge 95+, Firefox 92+, or Safari 15.4+ (iOS 18+ recommended). Rendering uses WebGL, and Configure also offers a software renderer.
- A desktop, laptop, tablet or phone, with keyboard and mouse, touch, or a gamepad (support varies by browser).
- No game files. Offline Play in Configure downloads the full game, about 550 MB; the site warns that browsers limit storage, especially in private windows.
Good to know
- The web port launched in June 2025. The changelog later lists a save editor (February 2026) and multiplayer for up to 16 players (April 2026). You can continue as a guest or link Discord to keep saves across devices.
- The site says it is in active development and bugs may occur. An open issue on the isle-portable tracker, opened in January 2026, describes occasional Firefox crashes with the WebGL renderer.
- It is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with or endorsed by The LEGO Group. Source: isle.pizza repository.
