Carnage3D is an open source remake of the first Grand Theft Auto, built for the browser with Emscripten. The project calls itself very early stage. The original Grand Theft Auto came out in 1997 from DMA Design for MS-DOS and Windows. It is a top-down game in which you earn points through missions in three cities.
How to play
Open the page and wait for the game to load. The controls are similar to the original:
- Arrow keys: walk or drive
- Space: slide on a car
- Enter: get in or out of a car
- Tab: switch a car's emergency lights on or off, if it has them
- Z and X: change weapon
- Ctrl: shoot
- W, S, A and D: move in "Free Look" camera mode
What you need
A desktop browser with WebAssembly and a keyboard. The project says it was tested in Chrome and Firefox and will not work in Edge. There is nothing to install or upload. The page runs the GTA 1 demo data.
