Vice City Web Edition is a browser build of the PC version of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, hosted by Quenq, which says every mission is included. It is built on revcDOS, the DOS.Zone Team's WebAssembly port of the reverse-engineered reVC engine. Assets stream in while you play, so there is no installer or large first download.
How to play
- Open the page. The player offers Play Game, Save Manager and Mod Manager.
- Before starting, you can set an FPS limit from 0 (unlimited, the default) to 240. The original ran at 30 FPS, and Quenq warns that higher rates can cause physics bugs in some missions: set 30 if you get stuck, or 30 to 60 if your device runs hot.
- Save Manager uploads
.bsaves from the PC or PS2 versions and downloads backups, which is also how you move progress to another device. Mod Manager takes files that replace models, textures or the player skin. - Cheats can be typed on a keyboard.
What you need
- Browser: hardware acceleration has to be on, or the engine may fail to start.
- Input: keyboard and mouse, an Xbox or PlayStation controller over USB or Bluetooth, or on-screen touch controls. On phones, Quenq recommends landscape and fullscreen.
- Files: none.
Good to know
- Saves are kept in your browser's storage; download a backup before clearing site data.
- DOS Zone first released revcDOS on its own site in December 2025 and later reworked that version to ask for the player's own game data after a DMCA request.
- Take-Two sent DMCA notices over reVC and re3 in 2021 and sued people behind them; in 2023 it dismissed its claims against the four named defendants.
- The original was developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It is set in 1986 and came out for PlayStation 2 in 2002 and for Windows in 2003.
