Chrono Divide is a fan-made recreation of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2, the 2000 real-time strategy game from Westwood. It is a new game client for the web, rendered with WebGL, that reads the original data files, which you import once from your own copy. The focus is online play, with ranked and unranked matches, replays and mods, plus single-player games against a training dummy or an easy opponent marked beta.
How to play
- Open the site and select Play BETA. On first launch the game asks you to locate the original game assets.
- Select your installed Red Alert 2 folder, or an archive (zip, 7z, rar, tar or self-extracting exe) holding the
.mixfiles. The importer looks for files such asra2.mix,language.mixandmulti.mixand expects the game updated to version 1.006. - Pick a region server and a nickname. Linking a nickname to a Discord-based account is optional.
- Join a Quick Match (ranked or unranked), host or join a custom game, open replays, or start a single-player match.
- In Options, choose classic left-click or modern right-click orders; hotkeys can be customized.
What you need
- A current 64-bit Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari with WebGL and at least 1 GiB of memory per tab. The site advises avoiding Firefox for performance.
- Listed minimum: an Intel Atom Z3700-class CPU, 4 GB of RAM, Intel HD graphics and a 1024x768 display.
- Mouse and keyboard, or touch (tap to select and order, drag to box-select, two-finger drag to scroll). The patch notes mention no gamepad support.
- Your own copy of Red Alert 2. Imported files stay in browser storage, which private windows may block.
Good to know
- It is a beta. The first alpha dates from October 2020, and the patch notes run to v0.84.1 (October 2026).
- Multiplayer is client-server, so no port forwarding is needed. Ranked 1v1 and 2v2 queues feed a ladder.
- Coverage in November 2025 said the original single-player campaigns were still in development. The mod SDK says Yuri's Revenge mods are not compatible.
- The site calls it a non-profit fan project unaffiliated with Electronic Arts. No game source repository is published; the patch notes list every release.
