Step On It is a fan recreation of LEGO Racers (1999), built in a new engine by Navigator Sharp (itch.io page) and drawing on the community decompilation of the original game. It keeps the original tracks and racers and the build mode for making your own character and car, and adds four shortcuts that were cut from the original, two new tracks the developer calls a work in progress, and new graphics options.
How to play
- Open the site and press Play. Every mode and all content are unlocked from the start.
- Modes include circuit races, single races, versus and time trials.
- Keyboard, mouse, Xbox controllers, joysticks and touch screens all work, according to the itch.io page.
What you need
- A browser. No game files are needed.
Good to know
- Online races take up to eight players since version 1.1.0, and the game has 4-player local split-screen. Players arrange online matches on the project's Discord server.
- On iOS the site explains how to add it to the Home Screen; a fix for the controller Back button needs iOS 26.1 or later.
- The itch.io page also offers downloads for Windows, macOS, Linux, Steam Deck and Android.
- The developer says no generative AI was used.
