CSJS is Counter-Strike 1.6 multiplayer in the browser, made by Luka Klačar (LK). It compiles the Xash3D FWGS engine to WebAssembly with Emscripten, draws through a GLES-compatible renderer on a canvas, and connects over WebSockets directly to native Xash3D dedicated servers. The site also has a global scoreboard, player profiles, a weapon database and built-in voice chat.
How to play
- Open the server browser, pick a server and press Join server, or press Quick play. No account is needed.
- Enter a player name. For voice, turn on voice chat in the join dialog and pick a microphone.
- Press I understand this on the fullscreen notice. Outside fullscreen, Ctrl+W closes the browser tab instead of working as a game control.
- The client downloads the game files and connects you to the match. Hold K to talk.
- On a phone, CSJS turns on Xash3D's built-in touch controls and asks for landscape fullscreen (phone guide).
What you need
- A browser with WebGL and hardware acceleration, on a computer or a phone. No install and no game files.
- The first launch downloads about 170 to 220 MB of game files, depending on the server. The browser keeps them for later visits.
- Keyboard and mouse, or a touch screen. A microphone only for voice chat.
Good to know
- CSJS launched in August 2026; its kill statistics start on August 17, 2026. The site showed Build 1.0.0 on October 31, 2026.
- On October 31, 2026 the list had four servers: CSJS Classic, CSJS fy_snow 24/7, CSJS Gun Game and a Vietnamese community server.
- Stats follow the name you join with: kills, K/D, playtime, favorite map and weapon, victims and nemeses, by day, week, month or all time.
- Anyone can host a server with Docker. Hosts need an account and their own Half-Life and Counter-Strike files; players join without an account.
- The site calls CSJS an independent project built on the GPL-licensed Xash3D FWGS engine, not affiliated with Valve or FWGS. The same developer makes browser ports of Quake III Arena and Jedi Academy.
