WebXash is a front end by x8bitrain for webxash3d-fwgs, a WebAssembly build of the Xash3D FWGS engine. It runs Half-Life and Counter-Strike 1.6 in the browser. The original Half-Life is a first-person shooter developed by Valve, released for Windows on November 19, 1998.
How to play
- Choose Open game Folder and pick your Half-Life folder, the one that contains
valve. The page then lists the games you can launch. - Or choose Open ZIP and pick a zip of your
valvefolder. - For a mod such as Opposing Force or Blue Shift, keep its folder next to
valveand set a launch option such as-game bshiftbefore you choose the folder.
Play with a keyboard and mouse. Use fullscreen, because Ctrl+W (crouch jump) tries to close the tab in most browsers.
What you need
Your own Half-Life files, and a keyboard and mouse. The page can also play zipped demos. The project says it does not work well on mobile.
Good to know
- The folder is only read. Its files are copied into memory for the session.
- A save manager keeps saves in your browser's storage and can download them. It is off when Counter-Strike 1.6 is selected.
- Multiplayer needs a separate server from the webxash3d-fwgs project.
- Mods that the Xash3D engine does not support probably will not work.
